Overview & Highlights

If you're looking for the quintessential American experience wrapped in nostalgia, look no further than Bill's Drive-In, a delightful hot dog restaurant nestled at 1292 E Michigan Ave in Ypsilanti, MI. This charming little drive-in offers a unique blend of old-school charm and comfort food that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

Bill's specializes in the classic hot dog, with their chili dogs standing out as a signature dish. Picture this: a succulent hot dog coated generously with a rich, slightly sweet chili, perfectly balanced with zesty mustard and fresh onions. Customers rave about it, with one enthusiast, Alyssia Hall, proclaiming it the "best chili dog you will ever have in your life!" Pair that with their homemade root beer, served in frosted mugs that bring back memories of simpler times, and you've got a perfect meal that feels like a warm hug on a plate.

The atmosphere at Bill's Drive-In is as much a part of the experience as the food itself. With its classic drive-in style, you can park and immerse yourself in the leisurely pace while watching the world go by, a pastime that many reviewers have cherished. As noted by Shelly Manville, it’s "a step back in time when things were less complicated," a sentiment echoed by others who appreciate the friendly service and cash-only transactions that evoke a bygone era.

Beyond the iconic chili dogs, you can indulge in a variety of toppings for your hot dog, chips for that satisfying crunch, and refreshing root beer floats that are sure to hit the spot. With prices that are remarkably wallet-friendly—one customer even mentioned getting two coneys and a mug of root beer for just $6—Bill's makes gourmet comfort food accessible to everyone.

Now, let's talk about the service. The staff here are not just quick and efficient; they are genuinely caring and attentive. With the ability to remember multiple orders without missing a beat, they ensure that you feel valued as a guest. As voiced by Evan Mouradian, their service impresses from the moment you pull up to the time you savor those first few bites. It's not just a meal; it's an experience where every detail is catered to your enjoyment.

Don’t miss out on this gem of a place. First time going and was pleasantly surprised with the service and how nice our server was me and my gf got 6 chili dogs and we both were pleasantly impressed with the chili, so then we even got 2 quarts of homemade root beer and omg it was so good!!! Definitely check this place out if you haven’t

A fun drive-in experience. Cash-only for purchases. We parked and watched traffic pass by on Michigan Ave while we ate inside our car. Offerings include a few choices for hot dog toppings, chips, soft drinks, root beer floats, etc.

This little place is a go to for the best chilli dog you will ever have in your life!!! It’s a little sweet with onions and mustard that are not overpowering! No lie I can eat about 4 of these!! So delicious! It’s a drive in and they come to your car to get your order and bring it back to you! Love it!!!

Bill’s is an old school root beer stand. It’s never going to be fancy and that’s why it’s so special. Nice people providing a frosted mug of root beer and a hot dog. It’s a step back in time when things were less complicated. It feels really special to visit this gem of a place in Ypsilanti.

I paid $6 for two coneys and a mug of root beer and over a dollar of that was a tip. What a concept. Would recommend with my whole heart and I even got a suggestion for an ice cream place.

Homemade root beer and coneys. The dogs don't have a "snap" if that is something you like/don't. The service is super quick and friendly. Cash only, drive-in style, trays available if needed, picnic table if the weather is appropriate.

My favorite Hotdogs always has been. I definitely recommend this place and their root beer is so delicious. It's only guys who wait on you and the remember your order then go to the next car. Best place ever and you get your food quick.

Amazing food at insanely low prices. The service was great, our server was very nice and impressed us with how he could perfectly remember the orders of 5 people plus a dog. I definitely wish to return here often from now on.
